The Social Sciences Department is one of the largest in the College and has had notable success in attracting and retaining students. Psychology is the most popular course and at present there are 403 students studying Psychology. Student success rates in examinations are very good.

The Department has a reputation for being extremely supportive and new staff will always be given every assistance with books, resources and any other help they may need. Staff work closely together to plan schemes of work and share good practice. Links with local schools and employers are very good.

Our priorities are to maintain and extend our examination success and to maintain high levels of student retention.
