Situated in 23 acres of leafy grounds, Queen Mary’s College is an inclusive, vibrant and high achieving sixth form college with a fantastic reputation both locally and nationally. Value added data places us in the top 10% of all A- level providers.
Psychology is part of the Social Sciences department which also includes Criminology, Geography, Economics, Law and Sociology. We currently offer A level Psychology (AQA) with Forensic Psychology enrichment as well the WJEC Diploma in Criminology. The Social Sciences Department is one of the largest in the College and has had notable success in attracting and retaining students. Psychology is the most popular course and at present there are 403 students studying Psychology. Student success rates in examinations are very good.
The Department has a reputation for being extremely supportive and new staff will always be given every assistance with books, resources and any other help they may need. Staff work closely together to plan schemes of work and share good practice. Links with local schools and employers are very good.
Our priorities are to maintain and extend our examination success and to maintain high levels of student retention. We seek to ensure that we provide students with an experience of learning that is as attractive, interesting and active as possible and which helps them acquire the skills and knowledge essential for their progression.
