The Opportunity

As a rapidly growing Multi Academy Trust, Brunel are now looking for a Teaching Assistant to join us at our unique Seedlings Class, a SEND provision for a small cohort of 5 and 6 year olds with varying, complex SEND needs. Seedlings Class is used as a “break out” service from their time in their mainstream Primary Schools.

There is only a maximum of 8 children at any one time, all working at EYFS level and different children visit on differing days of the week. Led by experienced SEND Education professionals and a dedicated EYFS Outreach Teacher – this is a fantastic opportunity that you cannot miss!

For the right talent, we’re flexible on the hours you can do and we’re happy to work with you on this at interview. Our children’s key need for your support is spread out across the week – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We have the flexibility to offer our Teaching Assistants contracts to work consistently each full day or part-time, all day (once, twice or as many days you can in a week) or just consistently mornings or afternoons. It is worth noting, that there is scope for overtime should this be of interest!

Your Role

The attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):

  • Actively participate in activities designed to meet the learning, physical and emotional needs of individual children and groups of children in agreement with the lead and/or teacher, and where appropriate, communicate with parents and other designated carers about the care and education of their children as part of a dedicated team
  • Carry out teacher directed tasks in a way to suit the needs of the child
  • Support individual pupils and groups to ensure that they achieve learning targets
  • Contribute to record keeping and reporting

Your Experience

Our person specification attached will contain the full areas of skills and experience, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:

  • Ideally qualified to NVQ L3 but not essential, or working towards with interest for gaining a qualification
  • Good English and Mathematics to Grade C+ or equivalent
  • Experience of working well within a team
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently as required

Training: It is important to us to ensure you feel valued and supported in this exciting, rewarding and important role that you undertake therefore, relative training will be provided to the appointed applicant upon starting.
