Communication Support Worker (School of Sixth Form)

35 hours per week, 37 working weeks per year (term time only)

Salary: Support Staff Scale Point 22 -- £22,897 (FTE) £17,660 (pro-rata)

We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced and highly motivated Communication Support Worker to join our team within the School of Sixth Form (SofSF).

The successful candidate will be providing specialist support for visually and/or hearing impaired students and will therefore need to be qualified in British Sign Language (BSL) and braille/VI trained. This role will allow time for planning and resourcing.

Please note that in the event of specialist communication support not being required during the academic year, the successful candidate will be expected to undertake duties similar or the same as those required of a Learning Support Assistant.

The College provides specialist education and support for 200+ young people aged 16-25 with moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities.

In addition we support students within our mainstream provision that have additional learning needs such as ASC, and/or social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

Working with students you will form a key part of the range of services to support their education, emotional well-being and preparation for adulthood.

Please note it is essential that the successful candidate:

Has GCSE C grade or equivalent in English and Math's

Is willing to provide personal care which could include feeding and toileting as required to support students with specific identified needs (full training will be provided)

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service application.
