About the role 

Hours: up to 32.5 hours, 39 weeks of the year 

Salary: £20,444 FTE, up to £15,377 prorated 

Contract: 12 month Fixed Term 

The teaching assistant role at Downend school offers variety and challenge. Within this role you will be working within a strong team of staff who are focused on supporting teaching and learning within the classroom to benefit all students. You will work within subject teams to provide support for individual students and small groups from across the year groups.

About you 

The ideal Teaching Assistant will reinforce the excellent work of the teaching staff by supporting the individual both within and outside of the classroom environment. You will be a professional role model to the pupils, with the confidence to challenge and the creativity to motivate. You will also provide planned bespoke interventions with groups of children across the school.

You will be:

  • keen to learn with a positive outlook
  • able to work on your own initiative
  • experienced in working with children
  • able to work as part of a team
  • willing to undertake training
  • enthusiastic and have the skills to challenge and motivate all our pupils.
