As a developing Multi Academy Trust, now is an exciting time to join us as we are set to open a brand new provision based at Shaw Farm in West Swindon – Seedlings Class. Lead by our experienced Learning Resource Teacher, this is an all new SEND provision offering a robust Early Years curriculum to a small cohort of children aged 8 – 10 on a dual placement, who require additional support due to complex needs. This is as much a challenging as rewarding role, and you will be part of a dedicated and supportive team of SEND experienced education professionals to deliver through nurture and play, opportunities for our children to explore and learn through their dedicated EHCP.

With a flair for celebrating the smallest but most impacting successes of our pupils, retaining a patience in the knowledge this role comes with good days and challenging ones, we at Seedlings Class will strive to meet the end goal of our Trust: To collaborate and build a successful community of mainstream schools and SEND provisions to ensure each and every one of our pupils have the education they deserve.

Your Role

The attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):

  • Actively participate in activities designed to meet the learning, physical and emotional needs of individual children and groups of children In agreement with the classroom teacher, and where appropriate, communication with parents and other designated carers about the care and education of their children
  • Carry out teacher directed tasks in an appropriate way to suit the needs of the child
  • Support the teacher in the upkeep of tools and equipment
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with individual pupils and groups to ensure that pupils achieve learning targets
  • Work with the class teacher or other professionals to support pupils with additional needs, including the use of specialist equipment and interventions including ICT, AAC PECS etc.
  • Evaluate all sessions with children on the planning sheet provided to inform teachers’ future planning

Your Experience

Our person specification attached will contain the full areas of skills and experience, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:

  • Ideally qualified to NVQ L3 or working towards with interest for CPD
  • Experience of working with SEND children of Primary age
  • Experience of working well within a team
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently as required
  • Good English and Mathematics to grade C+

Training: It is important to us to ensure you feel valued and supported in this exciting, rewarding and important role that you undertake therefore, relative training will be provided to the appointed applicant upon starting.
