The role
South Hampstead High School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Psychology to lead a lively and successful department with a strong academic record.
As Head of Psychology, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and organisation of the department, ensuring that high standards of teaching and learning are maintained. You will lead a small and collaborative team of three part-time staff members who contribute to a vibrant departmental programme. Alongside high-quality teaching, the department offers enrichment classes, revision sessions, Oxbridge preparation, guest speaker events and educational trips, providing students with a wide range of opportunities to deepen their understanding of Psychology.
You will also model excellent classroom practice through your own engaging teaching of Psychology to Sixth Form students in Years 12 and 13, inspiring curiosity and critical thinking in the subject.
About you
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to shape and develop Psychology within a supportive and high-achieving school community. We are looking for an individual with excellent leadership and decision-making skills who is capable of challenging and stretching students in an engaging and stimulating way. Experience of teaching Psychology across Key Stages 3 and 5 is essential, along with previous experience in a leadership or management role (e.g. as a Deputy of Head of Department).
